Learn the basics of loom knitting or continue building your skills through a selection of guided projects in this open-enrollment class.
Brand-new students will learn the fundamentals of working with a knitting loom while completing beginner-friendly projects.
Returning students can continue progressing through the projects and developing their skills at their own pace.
Open enrollment
There’s no required multi-week commitment. Register for the dates that work for you and continue working through your project each time you attend.
Skill Level: All levels — no previous knitting or loom-knitting experience required

Loom knitting projects
Students can progress through a variety of projects while learning and practicing new loom-knitting skills. All project patterns are included with the class.
Project #1 — Dish/Wash Mitt or Ball
A great introductory project for learning the fundamentals of working with a round knitting loom.
Supplies needed:
• Approximately 3–4 oz. medium/worsted-weight 100% cotton yarn
• Polyester fiberfill/stuffing*
• 24-peg round knitting loom
• Loom hook
• Size G crochet hook
• Scissors
• Yarn needle
*Stuffing is only needed when making the ball.
Project #2 — Headband or Belt
Continue building your loom-knitting skills while choosing between a wearable headband or belt.
Supplies needed:
• Approximately 5–7 oz. medium/worsted-weight yarn of your choice
• For headband: One 1" button of your choice (optional)
• For belt: Two 2" bamboo rings
• 26-peg long knitting loom
• Loom hook
• Size G crochet hook
• Scissors
• Yarn needle
Project #3 — Kitchen Tea Towel
Create a practical kitchen towel while continuing to practice and expand your loom-knitting skills.
Supplies needed:
• Approximately 4–5 oz. medium/worsted-weight 100% cotton yarn
• Optional: 1–2 oz. of a second color for edging
• 31-peg round knitting loom
• Loom hook
• Size G crochet hook
• Scissors
• Yarn needle
Project #4 — I-Cord Hot Pad
Learn another loom-knitting technique while creating a useful hot pad for your kitchen.
Supplies needed:
• Approximately 3–4 oz. bulky-weight 100% wool yarn
• Large-gauge round loom with at least 3 pegs
• Loom hook
• Size G crochet hook
• Scissors
• Yarn needle
Purchasing supplies
Students are welcome to bring supplies from home or purchase available yarn and tools at Pink Thread before class. If you’re unsure what you need, arrive a little early and we’ll be happy to help you select the appropriate supplies for your project.
