Pick up your pattern before class
Your Dawn Jeans pattern can be picked up at Pink Thread as soon as you register.
We highly recommend picking it up well before your first session. Take some time to read through the instructions, review the sizing and fabric requirements, and familiarize yourself with the construction process. You don’t need to understand everything before class. Simply reviewing the pattern ahead of time will help you come prepared with questions.
Fabric requirements
Students will need medium- to heavyweight non-stretch denim, canvas, or a comparable fabric appropriate for the Dawn Jeans pattern.
Fabric yardage will depend on your selected pattern size. Refer to the pattern requirements when purchasing your fabric, or ask us for assistance.
When selecting your fabric, consider what your sewing machine can comfortably handle. If you’re unsure whether your machine can sew through heavier layers, we recommend choosing a medium-weight fabric.
All fabric must be pre-washed and dried before your first session.
What to bring
• Sewing machine in good working order
• Pre-washed and dried fabric
• Scissors
• Pins and/or pattern weights
• Measuring tape
• Size 16/100 sharp or denim sewing-machine needles
• Seam ripper
• Extra bobbins
• Your usual sewing supplies
Additional notes
Plan for approximately two hours of homework between each session. Completing your assigned work will be important for keeping up with the class and working toward completing your jeans by the final session.
