One for Me, One for Thee Feathered Tree Skirts
Two sessions, Tuesdays, November 10 and 24, 2026, 9am to 3pm, limited to 8 students.
Make two beautiful feathered tree skirts with instructor Diana Simkins. Using a 10 degree wedge ruler, you will cut prepared fabric strata into wedges and sew them into a 52 inch circle skirt, two skirts from one pattern. Diana supplies a complete pattern for each student, and the 10 degree wedge ruler is included in the class price, given to each student.
The pattern is Me and One for Thee Feathered Tree Skirts, which makes 2 tree skirts.
What You'll Learn:
• How to cut prepared strata into wedges with a 10 degree wedge ruler
• How 36 wedges come together into a 52 inch circle with a 6 inch center opening
• How to assemble and finish two feathered tree skirts, using leftover fabric from cutting for the finishing
Skill Level: Confident machine sewers. You should know how to confidently use your sewing machine, sew in a straight line, and sew comfortable 1/4 inch seams.

Class Price: $170. No separate materials fee. Minimum 2 students for the class to run.

Homework Before Class:
Buy about 8 yards total across 13 fabrics and pre-cut 7 strips of each fabric at the widths on the supply list before the first session. You will also need 3/4 yard lame (optional, not included with the class, but available to purchase at the store) and 2 yards of backing per skirt.
Fabric list — yardage to buy and cut width for each fabric:
1. Christmas floral or print, 1 1/4 yd, cut 3 1/4 in.
2. Beige or other light, 1/3 yd, cut 1 5/8 in.
3. Light green print, 1/2 yd, cut 2 in.
4. Pink print, 1/3 yd, cut 1 1/2 in.
5. Dark green print, 1/2 yd, cut 1 1/2 in.
6. Red print, 1/2 yd, cut 2 in.
7. Light background print, 1 yd, cut 4 1/2 in.
8. Christmas floral or print, 5/8 yd, cut 2 1/2 in.
9. Dark green print, 1/2 yd, cut 1 1/2 in.
10. Medium green, 1/3 yd, cut 1 5/8 in.
11. Dark red print, 1/2 yd, cut 1 1/2 in.
12. Pink or white print, 1/3 yd, cut 1 1/2 in.
13. Christmas floral or print, 1 1/4 yd, cut 3 1/4 in.
The same floral may be used for fabrics 1, 8, and 13 if enough yardage is bought for each position. Choose florals with medium to dark backgrounds, and smaller prints and neutral colors to contrast with the larger florals.
What to Bring:
Bring a sewing machine in good repair that you are familiar with, with a 1/4 inch foot. You will also need:
• Cutting mat
• Rotary cutter
• Scissors
• Pins
• Seam ripper
• 24 inch ruler
• Thread for piecing
• Thread for quilting (monofilament or metallic if desired)
• Batting, 52 inch square or circle, low loft

A complete Me and One for Thee Feathered Tree Skirts pattern for each student and a 10 degree wedge ruler are included in the class price. Please do not bring a 10 degree wedge ruler; one will be given to each student.
