We Love Homeschoolers

At Pink Thread, we're proud to support homeschooling families in North Idaho. We're an approved ClassWallet vendor, which means families with remaining Empowering Parents grant funds can use them right here — potentially for sewing classes, supplies, and more. Come learn, create, and connect with us!

Spend Your Class Wallet Funds Here

If your family received an Idaho Empowering Parents grant, you may still have funds available! Pink Thread is a registered vendor in the ClassWallet Direct Pay / Pay for Services section, which means you can use your grant balance to pay for sewing classes right here in Coeur d'Alene. Grants issued in 2023 expire in 2026, 2024 grants expire in 2027, and 2025 grants expire in 2028 — so log into your ClassWallet account to check your balance before your funds disappear!

What About the New Parental Choice Tax Credit?

Idaho's Parental Choice Tax Credit (through myschoolchoice.idaho.gov) gives eligible families a refundable tax credit of up to $5,000 per student for qualifying educational expenses like tuition, curriculum, and textbooks. We want to be upfront with you: this credit is designed for core academic expenses, so sewing classes may not qualify. However, if you're purchasing educational materials or books, it may be worth exploring. Questions? Reach out to the Idaho State Tax Commission at parentalchoice@tax.idaho.gov.

Did You Know You Can Use a 529 Account?

This is one most families don't know about! Thanks to the federal One Big Beautiful Bill Act signed in 2025, families can now withdraw up to $20,000 per year from a 529 education savings account for K–12 expenses — and the list of qualifying expenses has been expanded to include homeschool curriculum materials, tutoring, and more. If your family has a 529 account, it's worth talking to your financial advisor about whether your Pink Thread purchases could qualify. Please note that we're a fabric and sewing shop, not financial advisors — so we always recommend confirming the details with a tax professional before making any decisions based on 529 funds.
